senior: jorgon

November 9, 2009

i met jorgon up at the studio last week and he brought his little entourage. his friends kept a smile on his face the entire time and i can tell that their friendship is really strong.
jorgon and i did some shots in and around the studio and we had a good time. he’s a real nice guy with confidence in what he does.
congrats to jorgon on his final year in HS, it gets much better after this, trust me!

wedding: sousy and jp

November 7, 2009

the first thing i am going to say about this wedding is that it is the most emotional wedding i have ever been to. sousy and jp both lost their fathers years ago and sousy had a picture of both on her bouquet. jp and his crew went to the cemetery to see his father. very powerful very emotional.
i knew this was a good day for a wedding, weather was great and the moods were right. i met sousy back in 2007 when i was doing santa pics at nordstrom. she was my “boss” and we hit it off. we became good friends and she was always talking about her “upcoming” wedding and how i had to photograph it. here we are in 2009, the day that sousy and jp got married. i heard many people say that it was about time, but i saw a love from both sides of the family towards each other that you can only see through time. these relationships were built over time, laughter and tears. this was a family united and i was blown away by all the love and emotion during the two ceremonies and reception.
the first ceremony was the cathloic ceremony followed by a lao ceremony.
i love doing cultural weddings because there is so much more going on and they are very vibrant in color and character.
it was great getting to know jp for the past few months and sousy for the past few years. these two are truly meant for each other and i love being their friend!

wedding: michelle and frank

October 25, 2009

having seen frank at a wedding i did a couple of months back, we decided to meet up and talk about his wedding with his then soon to be wife, michelle. you see, frank and i have known each other for quite a long time. i remember when he was about 9 years old and his sister use to spend the night and hang out with my sister. we go way back.
that being said, it was really cool to see him get hitched! i always wondered what kind of lady he would get hooked up with. these two have been together for quite some time and according to the guests, it was about time!

e-session: sousy and jp

October 6, 2009

sousy use to be my boss at nordstrom. it’s not what you think, she was the person i reported to at nordstrom when i do santa pictures during the holiday season. we had a pretty good time and eventually i got her photographic trust.
that was 3 years ago.
now, i’m doing her and jp’s engagement session. we started off with a nice lunch at simon’s (thanks guys!) than headed downtown to get some images with the urban vibe to it. we also went to their ole stompin grounds at west high. it was weird for all of us being in the high school again. it just has a totally different feeling than the “outside world” has and it kind of freaked me out, man.
after we left we ventured off to point woronzof, ironically this is where jp proposed to sousy (i definitely know how to pick the spots =) ). after the cold walk around the rock beach we ended back up in my studio doing a few shots.
they turned out great, but you don’t need me to tell you about, you can look at the pics and judge for yourself!
the wedding of sousy and jp…coming soon!

wedding: jennifer and jesse

September 27, 2009

unfortunately i do not know a whole lot about this couple as i met them the day of the wedding. you see, i was helping out my buddy, dan shepard over at Moon Light Photography. it’s been a long time since i was the second shooter, but i love shooting with friends so that made this even more better.
i got the boys for this shoot while dan photograph the ladies and i have to say that i had a great time. jesse was a baseball player so we went to the diamond and threw the ball around and just goofing off. afterwards we went to a little part of eagle river and did some guy shots there =)
the ceremony was very nice and the reception, out at arctic valley was pretty sweet too.
anyways, there are a lot of pics so i’ll just let the images tell the story!

e-session: brittanie and david

September 24, 2009

i met up with brittanie and david out at flat top last week to do these shots…here it is today and i am looking out my window and i see flat top covered in snow! our 2 days of fall are changing to winter here in anchorage!
we had an excellent time out at flat top. the sky was just right and the love that these two have is incredible. i have known brittanie for about 3 or 4 years and it makes me happy when my friends find that special someone like she found in dave, who is a cool guy!

family: sergio and sergio, jr

September 23, 2009

i’ve known sergio for about 6 years now. i like him, he’s a good guy. than he had a kid and than he turned into a great guy with a plan!
i’m very lucky to have sergio as a friend, he believes in me and believes in what i do. this is not one way because it is reciprocal and i admire what he has planned out.
enough of my friend, on to the pics!

wedding: jaylee and georg

September 13, 2009

beautiful bride, awesome groom and big horses, O MY!
a few days before the wedding, jaylee and georg met up with us to do an e-session which turned out great (posted below this topic)! during that session, georg and i talked about one of his groomsman, chris. i have known chris since the 2nd grade and it was crazy that our paths had crossed after so many years (we graduated from HS many years ago and lost contact).
as the day came for the wedding, i grew excited as i had a good time with the couple and knew that this wedding was going to be great. jaylee, a beautiful bride, was full of smiles and very laid back. a trait that most brides do not have =) georg was also cool and collected. their demeanors made the day go so smoothly and after the ceremony we headed out to otter lake lodge for the reception. before we got there, we pulled over and got some photos with the horses that jaylee rides during the summer months around downtown anchorage! this was my first time photographing a couple with horses and it was fun! i love those large animals, they are pretty awesome!
enough of my jibba jabba, on to the photos!
