seniors: summer

i first met summer at a party that i photographed in the later part of 2010 and i knew that i was going to like her just because of her name…it’s the best time of year in alaska!
anyways, she came by the studio to get some great senior pics done!! the portraits came out great and so did our little adventure to the lone wall of graffiti in anchorage (if there are more, please enlighten me =) ). also, this girl likes guns so i took pics with her and her piece…like i was going to say no.

best of 2010

with a lot of ups and downs for 2010, it’s hard to realize that we’re already 2 months into 2011. last year was a great year for the photographers at chris cupp photography. we had tons of awesome shoots and we have added video to the arsenal. 2011 will bring great things for my crew and i and i hope you’ll be part of that journey.

seniors: mary

when i first met mary, i knew right off she wanted something different with her senior photos.
i could tell that she seemed kind of bored with the idea of a normal session, sit here, smile like this, tilt your head, etc…
after some thought to this session i presented my ideas and mary was down for whatever.
we started in my studio and then headed out to Alaska Pacific University (where she is actually taking classes right now, literally she’s in class while i type this) and got some shots with the very cool APU sign. from there we went down town (she informed me that she loves my corrugated tunnel shots) and got some around the area.
she was full of laughter and was accompanied by her mother and grand mother, who were awesome to have a long. i never had to worry about the hair cause mom was always on top of it!
needless to say, we had a great time and i can’t wait to show you ladies the rest!

seniors: scout

so if anyone knows me, they know that i rave about this wonderful young woman, scout. she is simply amazing.
great personality, great talent and a beauty to top it all off.
we decided to do some shots out in girdwood right before one of her gigs and it was wet and muggy outside. though the weather was against us, we nailed this session!
after scout rocked the pics, she rocked the crowd out at maxine’s glacier city bistro. while listening to scout play, i enjoyed a brilliant burger (this is not a shameful plug ) and some good ale.

senior: jorgon

i met jorgon up at the studio last week and he brought his little entourage. his friends kept a smile on his face the entire time and i can tell that their friendship is really strong.
jorgon and i did some shots in and around the studio and we had a good time. he’s a real nice guy with confidence in what he does.
congrats to jorgon on his final year in HS, it gets much better after this, trust me!

sr sessions: donnelyn

i met donnelyn back in october when i photographed dina and ron’s wedding. she had briefly talked to me about doing her sr. photos, but she’s not in high school, she’s graduating college!
with great accomplishments comes great photos! she told me what she was kind of expecting and i threw some ideas her way and we made it happen.
we traversed downtown anchorage to get these shots and the trek was well worth it.

sr session: karen

so karen and i have been trying to get together for a while but our schedules kept conflicting. fortunately, we were able to get together and get some of these great shots.
karen does some native youth olympic games and one of her favorite ones is one foot high kick which she can kick around 6 feet! that means if i made her mad during our session, she could pretty much kick me in my face, luckily for me, she was nice

sr session: heather

i met heather through one of my potential clients and we seemed to hit it off.  her boyfriend came with her and we just had good conversation and good fun.
we talked about books and how her fav auther, norah roberts is waaaaay better than nicholas sparks. i don’t know how to read so i let her and her boyfriend just squabble about it, but when the smoked cleared, heather still had a smile on her face and we came out with some great pics.

sr session: melissa

i met melissa through a friend of mine, stacey who is, if you remember, with One Powerhouse Production.
we met up to do this sr. session because melissa didn’t like the “normal” sr portraits. i try to keep it a little edgy, while maintaining a bit of “seniorism.” i think i was able to do what she wanted and i can’t wait to finish the session, we have one more day left to do some outdoor pics and we’ll see how cold it is!
